Room Full of Lights

We are all broken, that’s how the light gets in. – Ernest Hemingway

At one point in everyone’s life there comes a time when we feel broken, or cracked, for that matter. I don’t care how perfect or okay you are striving to seem to the public during those times, trust me, I understand why you would take those measures. But I am talking about that moment that you feel the worst that you’ve ever felt, and you have no choice but to shatter, and slowly pick up your own pieces in order to build yourself back up again.

I heard once that you can put a bunch of ingredients together and put it in the fridge in effort to bake a cake, but it will never be a cake until it hits the fire. Be grateful for these times that break you to pieces, and set you on fire, because these are the times that make you who you are meant to be. People may judge and criticize you for being different or because they don’t understand the dimensions of you, but let me tell you a few things. One, if you are in the process of rebuilding yourself, and creating yourself, who is there to judge the dimension of yourself your portraying that day? Indeed, great minds are the ones continuously growing and changing. And two, who is to say that you have to dwindle yourself down to one thing, to always be in the same mood, say the same things, have the same opinions, and become our titles, let me remind the world that we are multidimensional human beings and have much more than one side to us all. And how beautiful is it to have a few cracked sides, that allow light to get in and make us shine brighter from the inside out.

The process ends once you’ve had enough, you’ve felt all the pain you can bear and come to the end of your rope, a lightbulb clicks in your mind, and acceptance covers your heart. You look in the mirror at yourself, and make a decision, that no matter what has happened or will happen, you are deserving of happiness, and you are in this world for a purpose. At that point I cannot explain how much joy explodes through your being unless you’ve experienced it. That is my definition of freedom, that is not related to any circumstance, it leaves you so grateful for the battles you’ve faced, your new understanding of life, and your rooted soul.

May you lose yourself, wander this beautiful world, break into a million pieces, and find yourself standing in front of a room full of lights.
